Preparing for Questions: Getting Background on hot topics

One of the most effective ways to improve your interview scores is by knowing your current events and being able to form opinions on them. There are several hot button issues that interviewers like to bring up to test your knowledge on.

There are some standard ones that you will hear: global warming, abortion, politics and gun control are popular. Being well informed and having a defensible position on these topics will go a long way towards establishing a good score.

one of the most commonly asked questions is about gun control. Gun control is a hard issue to answer to because there is so much rhetoric around the issue. Standard cookie cutter responses parroted out of the local newspaper will not get the highest scores. Well reasoned responses that go beyond the headlines will garner the best scores.

One place that has done a good job educating the public on gun issues is a training site in Nevada near Las Vegas called "Front Sight".

Front sight is designed to train both experienced gun hobbyists such as policemen, military and civilians but they also have many courses that are for people new to the shooting sports.

They have also spent a lot of time trying to educate the public about issues of gun rights, gun ownership and gun control.

Here are several links where you can research more about the gun control issue and learn more about firearms ownership in America. The deeper the knowledge you have on particular issues, will help you score better with the judges.

We've all seen what happens when someone doesn't prepare properly for pageant interview. Miss South Carolina was not properly prepared for her question and lost the pageant on her interview question.
